Gala Event to Fundraise Hispanic Business Growth

Celebrates 10th Year of Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

(Richmond, VA) The Hispanic Gala will be hosted by the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, during its 10th anniversary of building bridges, on Friday, April 23rd in the capital city of Richmond at the Science Museum of Virginia. The fundraising Gala event will benefit the programs and services offered by the VAHCC and its Foundation, while honoring business and political leaders who have bridged Hispanic business with the community at large. Notable guests attending the evening gala include the guest speaker, Governor Bob McDonnell, members of the Governor’s Cabinet, Latin American ambassadors, consulates, and a select group of over 700 diplomats, entrepreneurs, law firms, bankers and more.

Michel Zajur, President and Founder of the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is quoted, "In 10 years we have seen the community grow tremendously and we are glad that the VAHCC has been able to be an instrumental part in connecting and bringing opportunities to all Virginians”. Hispanic businesses in Virginia have grown 20% faster than the national average. Dominion Resources, title sponsor, calls the event "a great opportunity for Dominion and in keeping with our focus on diversity”, said Virginia Board, Managing Director of Community Affairs and Philanthropy for Dominion Resources.

The evening will begin with a red carpet arrival and cocktail reception followed by a four course sit-down dinner.  Speeches and a recognitions ceremony will follow, the evening will close with dancing and performances by the Latin Ballet of Virginia.

Prior to the fundraising Gala, the VAHCC will host 2010 Business Conference, "Strategic Alliances and Sustainability in Today’s Economy” in the morning. The conference will be a collaboration between the VAHCC and the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business and features a keynote address by Dr. Leonard Greenhalgh of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

The accomplishments of the VAHCC since 2000 have included opening the nation’s first Bilingual Business Information Center (BIC) in partnership with the Small Business Administration; helping thousands of Virginians, in English and Spanish, to grow or start small businesses, and bringing the state-wide community together through networking, mixers, workshops, and community events. The VAHCC continues to connect all Virginians to more opportunities in the Commonwealth to establish a more dynamic role the global economy.
