Norfolk, Va–The Virginia International Business Council
awarded Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Michel Zajur
with the 2011 Global Excellence Award Thursday, October 27th. This award
recognizes Mr. Zajur for his exceptional contribution to the promotion of world
trade in Virginia.
Over the last 63 years the Virginia Conference on World
Trade has met to discuss various issues in international trade. Past recipients
of the Global Excellence Award have come from many different disciplines from
manufacturers to exporters, bankers to brokers.
In the past, Mr. Zajur has worked to strengthen Virginia's relationship with Mexico
and other Latin American countries to inform them of the business-friendly
environment right here in Virginia.
Zajur has also conducted trade missions between Mexico and the United
States, and to Peru.
The VAHCC is currently
expanding its international membership by building bridges between Virginia companies and Latin America, and Latin American
companies that want to invest in Virginia.
Other notable endeavors under his leadership have include Brazilian Business
Conference in February, 2011, which showed ways to foster trade between Virginia and Brazil, and a Taste of Chile
exposition in 2009.

across boundaries, as well as showcase internationally the excellent business opportunities
right here in Virginia," says Michel Zajur, VAHCC President.
As the CEO and Founder of the VAHCC, Zajur routinely helps
local businesses find Latin American suppliers. The VAHCC alsoworks
to bring together the economic, social, and cultural diversity of Virginia with that of
the state's growing Hispanic population.
Since the VAHCC's founding in 2000, Mr. Zajur has been
acknowledged several times for his contributions to the business community. He
has been awarded the Minority Small Business Champion Award from the U.S. Small
Business Administration and was most recently named "One of the 25 people
you need to know in the state" by Virginia Business Magazine in 2011.
