Dario Marquez began his professional career as a member of the United States Secret Service. Sworn in as a Special Agent in 1972, he served under the Administrations of Presidents Nixon, Ford and Carter. During his tenure he was assigned to protect numerous heads of government, both domestic and foreign, as well as Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Vice President Nelson Rockefeller.
In 1979, Mr. Marquez left the Secret Service to establish MVM, Inc., a company, which currently employs over 2,400 professionals worldwide.
Under Mr. Marquez’s leadership, MVM has emerged as a leading provider of system security, and system analysis as well as proprietary IT solutions tailored to the specific needs of our customers. Over the years MVM has garnered an impressive customer base to include some of America’s largest companies and government agencies.
While establishing a unique market niche for MVM, Mr. Marquez was also successful in managing its growth. In 1991, 1992, and 1993, MVM was recognized by INC Magazine as one of the fastest growing, privately held companies in America; and the fastest growing security company in the industry. In 1992, MVM was recognized as the fastest growing Hispanic-owned business in the country by Hispanic Business Magazine. In 1992, MVM received the prestigious “Blue Chip Enterprise Initiative Award.” In 1993, Mr. Marquez was named one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics in America” by Hispanic Business Magazine. In 1994, the Latin American Management Association named Mr. Marquez “Entrepreneur of the Year.” In 2007, Mr. Marquez was named the “Businessman of the Year” by Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. In 2010, MVM was listed as the 26th largest Hispanic Owned businesses in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine.
In 2008 Mr. Mr. Marquez established the Silver Eagle Group, a premier training facility for law enforcement and the public, in Ashburn Virginia. In 2016 the Silver Eagle Group was recognized as a top ten training and shooting facilities in the United States.
After identifying the need to bring jobs back in economically depressed regions in VA, in 2017 Mr. and Mrs. Marquez established Wize Solutions a company focused on workforce development, reinvestment, and economic prosperity in rural areas of Virginia. Working alongside the Virginia Community College System and other higher education partners, Wize Solutions will train hundreds of employees to provide remote IT support to companies throughout Virginia, primarily in the urban crescent of Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Tidewater.
Mr. Marquez strongly believes in implementing business solutions to his philanthropy work. Therefore, he dedicates time to mentor and provide assistance to organizations that focus on providing scholarships to Latino children. 1995 Mr. Marquez was one of the founders and Chairman of the Hispanic College Fund. In 2015 Mr. and Mrs. Marquez established the Marquez Foundation with the purpose of helping those of less fortune means obtain an education.
Mr. Marquez has appeared as an expert commentator on the NBC “Today Show,” the NBC Nightly News, CNBC, “Geraldo Live,” the Christian Science Monitor Radio Network, and has provided expert analysis to the Washington Post, the Washington Times, the New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal. He has also provided expert testimony before the United States Senate Committee on Terrorism in addition to delivering lectures to numerous corporations, law enforcement agencies, and civic groups.
Currently, Mr. Marquez serves on the Virginia Secure Commonwealth Panel.
