Capital One and The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to Award two $5,000 Scholarships

In our continuing efforts to support our communities and reinforce the value of learning, the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that we will be partnering, once again, with Capital One in awarding two $5,000 scholarships for deserving students in the Hispanic community in Virginia. We hope to identify two high school graduating Seniors who have excelled in the areas of:
- Leadership
- Community Involvement
- Academic Excellence
- Extracurricular Activities
All applicants should complete the enclosed application, compose a short essay of one and a half pages articulating how they have demonstrated excellence in the above areas. The application, essay and a copy of your transcript must be submitted directly to the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The application, composition and a copy of your transcript must be postmarked (US mail) by Friday, March 12, 2010. We will be reviewing all applications and narrowing the pool to a select few, for final interviews with representatives from COF and the VAHCC. The two winners are required to attend the Hispanic Gala, as guests of Capital One which will take place April 23, 2010 in Richmond at The Science Museum of Virginia.

The Virginia Foundation for Community College Education and The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to Award a $3,000 Scholarship

The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation (VAHCCF) and the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education (VFCCE) are delighted to award a $3,000 scholarship to one full-time student pursuing higher education at one of Virginia’s community colleges. The Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the VFCCE have come together to fund this scholarship.
This scholarship is intended for a Latino student who demonstrates
- leadership
- community involvement
- academic excellence
- extracurricular activities
Applicants should complete the attached application. The application, one letter of recommendation and a transcript copy must be submitted directly to the Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation, postmarked no later than Friday, March 19, 2010. The applicant must be a resident of Virginia.
